Pfeiffer Starts USA South Play With 7-0 Shutout at William Peace

CARY, N.C. (March 13, 2026) — James Eason fired eight shutout innings and Pfeiffer used a pair of big offensive bursts to blank William Peace 7–0 on Friday afternoon at USA Baseball National Training Complex in their USA South opener.

Eason scattered three hits, struck out seven and walked four while throwing 112 pitches for the Falcons (7–10). Mason Andrews worked a scoreless ninth to complete the combined four-hit shutout.

After four scoreless innings, Pfeiffer broke through with three runs in the fifth. Badin Gusa opened the rally with a single before Levi Barrett drilled an RBI triple to right-center. Josh Jones followed with an RBI double, and pinch-hitter Tony Mejias capped the inning with a run-scoring double down the left-field line.

The Falcons put the game out of reach in the seventh with a four-run frame. Jones and Christian Bellanton delivered back-to-back bunt singles before a walk loaded the bases. Mejias singled through the left side to plate two, and Jack Brandle added a two-run single to push the lead to 7–0.

Jones, Barrett, Bellanton and Gusa each recorded two hits for Pfeiffer, which finished with 11 hits.

William Peace (6–12) managed just four hits and did not advance a runner past third after the third inning. Starter Ethan Hummel allowed six runs on seven hits over 6? innings and took the loss.

The Falcons and Pacers will play a doubleheader on Saturday, March 14 starting at 1:00 p.m.
