Box Score Pfeiffer Women Fall at Home to William Peace
Misenheimer, N.C. (Feb. 22, 2021) – Visiting William Peace University forced 23 Pfeiffer turnovers and limited the Falcons to just 32.7% shooting from the field, dealing Pfeiffer a 95-58 women's basketball loss on Sunday afternoon at Merner Gym.
The Pacers (7-5, 7-5 USA South) led 20-17 after the first quarter and outscored the Falcons 24-15 in the second to take a 44-32 halftime lead. Pfeiffer was able to cut the lead to 28-25 following an A'Mya McClain (Hickory, N.C.) free throw, but WPU put together an 11-1 run to distance themselves from the Falcons. Senior Regan Allen was the lone Falcon in double-figures, as she scored 19 points and had a team-high five rebounds.
WPU had three players reach double-digits, with Jaymesha Sanders leading the way with 22 points and 14 rebounds.
The WPU lead would grow to as many as 14 (62-48) in the third quarter and then stretched the lead to over 30 points in the fourth, eventually downing Pfeiffer 95-58
Pfeiffer managed just a 32.7% outing from the field, connecting on 17-of-52 from the field. The Falcons also shot 41.2% (7-of-17) from beyond the arc and just 50% (17-of-34) from the free throw line.
WPU fared better, going 36-of-75 from the field (48%) while outrebounding Pfeiffer 58-30.
The loss drops Pfeiffer to 4-4 overall and 4-4 in USA South play. Pfeiffer returns home on Sunday, Feb. 28 for the final home game of the regular season, hosting Greensboro College at 2:00 p.m. in game one of a doubleheader with the Falcon men's team.
