Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Drops 3-2 Home Match to Averett

Misenheimer, N.C. (March 22, 2021) –  The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team gave up a late goal in a 3-2 setback to USA South foe Averett University on Saturday afternoon at Lefko Field.

How It Happened

Pfeiffer jumped on top early when senior Kyle Kamm scored an unassisted goal in the 12^th minute.  Kamm collected a loose ball from just outside and to the left of the Cougar box and beat the Averett goalkeeper to the far post to put the Falcons up 1-0.

Averett struck back in the 25^th minute when Erik Blick took a pass from Lluc Pou and snuck it past Falcon goalkeeper David Chavarria.

After being tied at the half, Averett scored just under three minutes into the second half, this time on a goal from Baste Endresen on an assist from Agustin Jaraba.

Averett would hold the 2-1 advantage over the next 27 minutes.  Pfeiffer mounted an attack in the Cougar box when a shot was taken and hit a Cougar defender in the box, resulting in a Falcon penalty kick.  Senior Caleb Bratager was true on the PK, tying the match at 2-2 in the 75^th minute.

The tie was short-lived, as Alexander Soerensen took a pass from Johnny Kummander in the 87^th minute and delivered the game-winner, making the final score, 3-2 in favor of the Cougars.
