GREENSBORO, N.C. — Guilford College overwhelmed Pfeiffer University 121-85 on Tuesday night at Ragan-Brown Field House, using a dominant inside game and balanced scoring to pull away in the second half.
Braylen Salters led the Quakers with 32 points on 10-of-20 shooting and 11 free throws, while Dawson Edwards added 19 points and four steals. Guilford (3-3) shot 49 percent from the field and outscored Pfeiffer 72-54 in the paint, capitalizing on 35 points off turnovers.
Pfeiffer (4-3) hung around early, trailing just 62-47 at halftime behind strong play from
Sean Sucarichi, who scored 15 points and dished out four assists.
Doug Smith chipped in 13 points and six rebounds, and
Justin Gaten added 13 points for the Falcons.
Guilford's bench contributed 35 points, and the Quakers pushed the pace to finish with 16 fast-break points. Pfeiffer managed 24 fast-break points of its own but couldn't overcome Guilford's depth and efficiency.
Both teams were even in free-throw attempts (26 each), but Guilford converted 20 to Pfeiffer's 16. The Quakers also held a slight rebounding edge, 50-49.
