Pfeiffer Men Wins First Outdoor Track & Field Championship in Program History

Concord, N.C. (April 26, 2025) – The Pfeiffer University men's outdoor track and field team claimed the first conference championship in school history in winning the USA South Outdoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday in Concord, N.C.

The Falcons collected 197 points to dethrone Southern Virginia, the three-time defending champion, outdistancing the Knights by 31 points.

Pfeiffer claimed eight event championships and had 20 podium finishes. Pfeiffer also had several school records set. Drake Stewart set a new mark in the triple jump at 13.39m. Stewart also came away with a new program best in the 400 hurdles (55.14) and in the long jump (6.90m). For his efforts, Stewart was named the Field Events Rookie of the Meet.

Cannon Powell also set a new program best in the 3,000m steeplechase by clocking a 9:35.85.

Head Coach Bob Marchinko added to his awards, as he won the Coach of the Meet. This is Marchinko's second award this year, as he won the Men's Cross Country Coach of the Year award this past fall.
