Freshman Drake Stewart Becomes First Pfeiffer Athlete to Compete in NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship
MIsenheimer, N.C.  – Pfeiffer University freshman
Drake Stewart became the first student-athlete in program history to compete at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
Stewart, from Greenville, S.C. who also plays basketball for the Falcons, competed in the men's high jump competition on Friday, May 23 at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at The SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
Stewart was the only USA South male athlete to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
The high jump competition started with a height of 1.95 meters. Stewart, who had a career-best jump of 2.06m at the Charlotte 49ers Classic in mid-March, was unable to clear the opening height in the NCAA meet, as he failed on his three attempts.
Despite failing to record a mark in the national meet, Stewart finished as the USA South Champion in the 400 hurdles, the long jump, and the high jump.
